MILPITAS, 2 June 2011 — Sage-N Research, Inc., the world leader in computational proteomics, today announced that it entered into an exclusive license agreement with the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) to commercialize a revolutionary new platform for rapid and sensitive detection and identification of pathogenic microorganisms in fluid media.
This license allows the integration of ECBC’s Agents of Biological Organs Identification (ABOID) system into the company’s existing SORCERER proteomics platform, enabling rapid and cost-effective detection and identification of microorganisms. Currently, the ABOID system can identify 4500 different bacteria, viruses and fungi.
“This cutting edge technology enables identification of microorganisms down to strain level in minutes, rather than hours,” said ECBC Senior Scientist Charles Wick, Ph.D. “This proves very successful for infectious disease identification and a range of other potential applications in military, medical, pharmaceutical, food and public safety areas.”
The new platform will utilize the Computational Power of Sage-N Research’s SORCERER and Mass Spectrometry based Proteomics to identify bacteria, viruses, fungi and other cellular material without the need for growing cultures, or any prior knowledge about them.

SAGE-N RESEARCH SORCERER PLATFORM IMPLEMENTED BY THE UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO FOR RELIABLE AND SIMPLE PROTEIN IDENTIFICATION
MILPITAS, 25th May 2011 — Sage-N Research, Inc., the world leader in supplying Integrated Data Appliances (IDAs) for proteomics research, announced that the State University of New York at Buffalo’s pharmaceutical sciences research group has chosen the Sage-N Research SORCERER platform to assist with its advanced proteomics research.
One of the primary reasons for this was to take advantage of the sophisticated algorithms and server capabilities that the SORCERER offers, as an overall life science platform. The SORCERER will replace the current super-computers that are used within the University’s laboratory to characterize and identify proteins and handle the large amounts of data generated from high throughput mass spectrometers.
The Lab of Clinical Proteomics and Pharmaceutical Analysis, led by Dr. Jun Qu, Assistant Professor at The State University of New York at Buffalo and the Chief Scientist in Bioanalysis in CEBLS, has decided to go with Sage-N Research’s SEQUEST 3G search engine and Matrix Science’s Mascot, both hosted on the SORCERER platform, to study a variety of applications including diagnostics and biomarker discovery for cardiovascular diseases, colon, pancreatic and prostate cancer, cocaine addiction, retina degeneration, COPD and HIV.

Sage-N Research Releases New Developer Toolkit That Facilitates Integration of SORCERER Platform With Independent Software Suites
MILPITAS, 26th April 2011 - Sage-N Research, Inc., the world leader in computational proteomics announced today a new API toolkit for developers of proteomics data analysis software. The toolkit will enable software developers to add the power and sensitivity of SORCERER analyses to their existing software packages, expanding the utility of the SORCERER platform for high-throughput proteomics laboratories.
The SORCERER is a customized platform that can be used by researchers studying, diseases like cancer and stem cell research. It combines SORCERER Enterprise 4.0 software with a range of additional proprietary post-processing tools such as ETD analysis, ASCORE, MUSE and CENSUS. A key feature of the SORCERER platform is SEQUEST 3G that was developed in partnership with Professor John R. Yates III of the Scripps Research. The API toolkit allows other applications, either running on the SORCERER platform or accessing it across the network from another computer, to specify and submit SEQUEST 3G searches, to track and control submitted searches and to retrieve hits and scores. SEQUEST 3G is Sage-N Research's next-generation evolution of the original SEQUEST algorithm for MS-MS protein identification, with enhanced sensitivity for PTM analysis.
